Acquired Brain Injury Services

Provided by Comox Valley Head Injury Society

Provides support services to acquired brain injury survivors, their families and caregivers in the Comox Valley.
Offers a variety of free programs and services to acquired brain injury survivors, their families, and friends, including:
  • Brain Injury Survivor’s Peer Support Group: Provides an opportunity for survivors to meet for socialization in a peer environment. The group runs every Wednesday from 1pm to 2pm.
  • Individual Support: One-to-one support services. Individual services are provided on a drop-in basis and by appointment.
  • Caregiver’s Support Group: Designed for individuals who provide caring and support to a loved one with an acquired brain injury. The group is held on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 6 to 7:30 pm. The group is held offsite in the Resonance Arts activity room, situated at 491-A 4th Street, Courtenay.
  • Family Counselling Program: Offers free clinical counselling for family members, and caregivers who provide care to acquired brain injury and stroke survivors or survivors.
  • Lunch Program: Drop In Lunch Program Every Tuesday 11:30am to 1pm at the Courtenay Legion. Cost of $2 for survivors, $4 for family and friends.
  • Seasonal and ad hoc recreational activities: Various activities are held throughout the year. Past activities have included hiking, cross-country skiing and other outdoor activities, barbeques, picnics, and bowling.
