Diabetes Education Program - Central Interior Rural

Provided by Interior Health

Provides education to increase diabetes awareness and prevention, and help individuals with diabetes manage their condition effectively including insulin adjustment.
Services are available for both adults and children affected by all types of diabetes including Type 1, Type 2, gestational (diabetes in pregnancy) and also pre-diabetes. Support partners, caregivers and family members are also encouraged to attend.

Services are offered in a team approach, which puts you and your family at the centre of your care. Nurses, dietitians and physicians with specific training and expertise in the area of diabetes management will work with you, your family/support partners, family physician and members of your broader healthcare team to support your ongoing and changing medical and self-management diabetes care needs. Services may include helping patients:
  • Learn more about diabetes
  • Manage their insulin
  • Be successful with diabetes-related goals and action plans
  • Manage their vascular risk factors
  • Manage and assist with self management of diabetes technology including pump therapy and CGM.
    Patients are encouraged to see their FP regularly for ongoing diabetes care and management.

    Limited service for pediatric diabetes at 100 Mile House, and Williams Lake location.
