Parent and Child Programs - Ladysmith

Provides a range of support services for Parents and Children
The Adventures in Early Literacy program: Designed for preschool-aged children (3 to 5 years old). Classes are from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and take place on Tuesdays at 630 2nd Avenue. Sandwiches are served after class. Space is limited and registration is required.

The Mother Goose program: A free interactive Caregiver and Child program of song, rhymes and stories and is offered Thursdays at 10:30 AM. and 12:30 PM., provided for children who are newborn to five years old. Sessions include singing followed up with a circle of sharing and a check-in..

The Toddler (walking to 3 years) Program: The program begins at 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. and the Infant (newborn to walking) Program begins at 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. Classes take place on Thursdays at 630 2nd Avenue. Snacks and refreshments are supplied. Space is limited and registration is required.

Born Healthy: A pre and postnatal nutrition, education and support program.

Dad's Drop-in: It’s a drop-in event for new dads and their kids that takes place on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. noon. Breakfast is served from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Activities and discussion follow from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Triple P: Program suggests simple routines and small changes that can make a big difference to your family. It helps you understand the way your family works and uses the things you already say, think, feel and do in new ways that:
  • Create a stable, supportive and harmonious family
  • Encourage behaviour you like
  • Deal positively, consistently and decisively with problem behaviour
  • Build positive relationships with your children, so that conflict can be resolved
  • Plan ahead to avoid or manage potentially difficult situations
  • Take care of yourself as a parent
